Lilly Webster's On Wrongly Righted Pineapple Confections

One day I went on a jaunt

To a highly esteemed restaurant

Sat down at a table

And then I was able

To order the food that I want

There was one of particular make

That would ever best short ribs or steak

So tangy and sweet

No meal is complete

Without pineapple upside down cake

When two worlds, new and old, collide

Whenever the tremors subside

A new dish created

To be celebrated

To be eaten and not pushed aside

In the Columbian exchange

Trading foods was all the rage

Wheat and sugar were sold

To the new from the old

And the pineapple sent back in change

A beautiful thing to behold

Rings of pineapple, glimmering gold

Seems a shame to eat

Such a beautiful treat

Pineapple cake just never gets old
